Flat warts

Flat or juvenile warts are growths of a viral nature on the skin, characteristic of children and young people. Their appearance is due to a deficiency of the immune system at a young age and the inability to resist certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). The disease is caused by HPV types 3, 5 and 10. These types of viruses are quite common in nature and are transmitted by direct contact, mainly in groups of children. The disease is manifested only by a violation of the immune status and over time the warts disappear by themselves.

ᲛReasons

The appearance of flat warts is caused by the introduction of human papillomavirus types 3, 5 and 10 into the skin. Papillomavirus penetrates through small cracks and crevices in the skin and damages keratinocytes. It alters the DNA of cells and they begin to produce collagen intensively, causing the corneal layer to grow and warts to form.

The virus is transmitted through direct contact with infected people, children mainly develop after contact with other children in kindergarten or school, but the source of the virus can also be adult carriers who have no signs of the disease. Warts spread all over the body during scratches or shaving.

Symptoms

When infected with the virus, flat, round or oval nodules up to 3 mm in diameter appear on the skin. Papules can merge with each other to form polygonal eruptions. Often, the mother wart first appears, around which a smaller, daughter then emerges. When scratched, the papules grow linearly in the direction of the comb due to the spread of the virus. A node can be one or many - it depends on the degree of resistance of the body. By color, the formations do not differ from healthy skin, but sometimes they acquire a yellowish or brown tint.

Flat warts on the skin

The surface of the rash is smooth and is not accompanied by itching, pain or burning. Papules are localized mainly on the skin of the hands or face - at the first contact with a viral particle. Although they can spread to other surfaces: the forearms, the mucous membranes of the mouth or the red border of the lips.

Diagnosis

It is sufficient to evaluate a specific clinical picture and conduct an examination. Rarely is virus identification used using a polymerase chain reaction.

With a large number of warts and ineffective treatment, a full examination of the body and the patient's immune status is performed. The usual process usually indicates more serious health problems.

How to get rid of flat warts?

  1. Strengthening the immune system with drugs with anthelmintic effect.
  2. Also used keratolytic and antiviral agents: 5% salicylic-resorcinol ointment, oxolin ointment, ointment or cream with interferon alfa-2, 10% silver nitrate solution. Silver nitrate is not recommended to get rid of flat warts on the face.
  3. In rare cases, cryotherapy and laser removal are used.

When warts appear in children, the growths in most cases are simply controlled because of the high probability of self-healing.

Treatment with folk remedies

There are many effective methods of treating warts with folk remedies. They are based on the use of plants and substances with keratolytic properties:

  1. Celandine. The juice obtained from the stems of this plant helps to disintegrate the top layer of warts. The nodes are lubricated with celandine juice several times a day until complete recovery.
  2. Potatoes. Apply the pile from the top layer of potatoes (just under the skin) on the wart and cover the top with a bandage. The compress stays on overnight. The procedure should be performed every other day until the papules disappear.
  3. Vinegar. Once a day, table vinegar is applied to the surface of the skin area until it is completely healed.
  4. Kalanchoe. Apply kalanchoe leaves gruel on the papule, top with a bandage or marl napkin. The compression remains for several hours. The procedure should be performed daily.

Forecast and results

The prognosis for the appearance of juvenile warts is favorable. The formations do not suffer from malignancy and disappear quickly with the normalization of immunity.

To prevent their appearance, you should wash your baby's hands after visiting any public place and treat colds and other diseases that reduce immunity in a timely manner.
